A Collectible Scent Series Born for Singapore's 61st National Day

Hysses, the Singapore-based home scent and wellness brand, today unveils Mercat — an original, trademarked character born from the meeting of two icons: the Merlion and the fortune cat. Created exclusively for SG61, Mercat is Hysses' new collectible IP, launched across three characters, each carrying the story of a different corner of Singapore, and united by a single scent: Pandanus Lily.

The launch marks Hysses' first character-driven product series — a scented keepsake designed not just to mark this year's National Day, but to grow, one edition at a time, as a lasting piece of the brand's identity.

A Singapore Story, Told Through Scent

Mercat takes its form from two of Singapore's most loved symbols — the Merlion, guardian of the waterfront, and the fortune cat, a familiar bearer of luck across the region's homes and shopfronts. Hand-illustrated and designed entirely in-house, the character is Hysses' playful expression of local identity, joy, and prosperity, bringing heritage and modern charm together in a single collectible piece.

The three editions take their names from Singapore's own historical roots: Singa and Pura are drawn from "Singapura," and Tasek from "Temasek" — the island's earlier name, meaning "sea town." Together, the three characters trace a quiet arc through the city's past and present.

Singa — Guardian of the Bay

Singa takes its spirit from the Merlion and the ever-changing skyline of Marina Bay — a character born of confidence, forward motion, and the joy of a city that never stopped becoming itself.

Pura — Keeper of Devotion

Pura is drawn from the devotional architecture of Sri Mariamman Temple and Masjid Sultan in the Little India and Kampong Glam precincts — a character shaped by quiet reverence, cultural depth, and the enduring language of scent in worship and daily life.

Tasek — Spirit of Stillness

Tasek is rooted in the calm of Singapore's Botanic Gardens and Gardens by the Bay — a character defined by stillness, natural rhythm, and a quieter, garden-side view of the city.

One Scent, Pandanus Lily

All three Mercat editions share a single scent: Pandanus Lily, a green herbal floral accord that pairs the soft, grassy sweetness of pandan — a scent long woven into Southeast Asian homes — with the calm, white-floral depth of Lily Absolute. It is a scent built on familiarity, chosen deliberately so that the story could rest on character and place, rather than on scent variation.

The Range

Mercat launches with six SKUs across two formats:

• Mercat Scented Tag — a wearable, hand-illustrated scent tag that hangs in wardrobes, drawers, bags, or luggage. Its natural scent lifespan of approximately 3–6 weeks is designed as part of the ritual, not a limitation — a gentle, natural fade rather than a fixed shelf life.
• Mercat Gift Set of 2 — pairing the Scented Tag with its matching 65ml Room Scent spray, offering two ways to carry the same Pandanus Lily accord — a lasting wardrobe scent, and an instant spritz for the room.

An IP Built to Grow

Mercat is designed as the first of an ongoing series. "Series 1" framing signals more than a single National Day moment — future editions are already part of the plan, with engagement across Singa, Pura, and Tasek informing which stories Mercat tells next.
