Cure to Diaper Rash

Diaper rash is a result of dermatitis or inflammation of the skin. It is often caused by prolong exposure to urine or stool that aggravate the sensitive skin or could be due to allergic reaction to the diaper. Unfortunately, this doesn’t only happen to babies but to anyone who wears diaper. Read on to find out more about diaper rash and the treatment to it.

Symptoms of Diaper Rash

It can show up in various forms:

  • Red, tender-looking marks in the buttocks, thigh and genitals
  • Behavioral sign such as fidgeting and feeling uncomfortable

Causes of Diaper Rash

These are several common causes of a diaper rash:

  • Prolonged exposure to urine or stool
  • Experiencing frequent bowel movements or diarrhoea
  • Chafing or rubbing against diapers
  • Yeast infection
  • Allergic reaction to diapers

DIY Diaper Rash Salve

1 cup coconut oil

1 cup olive oil

4 tablespoons Beeswax pastilles

8 drops Lavender essential oil

6 drops Lemon essential oil

4 drops Tea Tree essential oil

*Can fill up to 4-ounce glass jars

 

Method:

  1. Melt the coconut oil, olive oil and beeswax in a warm bath, stirring every few minutes until fully melted.

  2. Pour the appropriate amount of lavender, lemon, tea tree essential oils into a jar.

  3. Pour the melted oil and beeswax mixture into the jar, stopping a centimetre from the rim.

  4. Cool it until the salve hardens. Place paper towel atop the jar while cooling.

  5. Secure lid tightly after the salve hardens.

Application:
Use the salve the same way you would use any ointment or medicated cream. Apply twice a day to the affected area once in the morning once at night, preferably after a bath.
